Project Description

This fall, 13 year-old Shira Grinker began volunteering in COA’s Early Education Center. “I started volunteering at COA as a school requirement,” Shira said. “But after that I continued doing it because I love to be with the children. They are all so energetic and extremely adorable, and they always make me smile.”

In addition to volunteering, Shira also decided to ask her friends and family to make a donation to COA in lieu of a gift for her Bat Mitzvah. “I love volunteering at COA, not only because it is so much fun, but also because I know I am helping out an amazing cause that I have learned helps so many children and their families,” she said. So far, COA has received 31 donations from all across the country, totaling $1,731.00 to date! COA Youth & Family Centers would like to thank Shira and her family for their kind support.

Our staff members have been very impressed with Shira, and her dedication to COA. “Shira is a very happy and energetic girl who really loves the kids” Katie Taff, COA Early Education Master Teacher, said. “You can tell that the feeling is mutual when you see the kids’ faces once she walks in the door! She really cares about their wellbeing. She’s always on the floor listening to them and playing with them on their level. Shira is a great asset to us.”
