Project Description

COA is kicking off the 10th Anniversary Season of the Skyline Music Series on Tuesday, July 12th at Selig-Joseph-Folz Amphitheater in Kadish Park. The only free weekly concert series serving Riverwest, Brewers Hill, Brady Street, Beerline, and Harambee neighborhoods, Skyline was originally created as part of COA’s structured revitalization of Kilbourn-Kadish Park and the surrounding neighborhoods.

COA Executive Director Tom Schneider reflected on the progress, “Ten years ago we pitched a tent in COA’s newly created Kilbourn-Kadish Park and 200 people showed up for the first concert.  Each year the series grows and keeps getting better with families enjoying a picnic in the park, great music, and the amazing skyline view of Milwaukee.”

The free, family-friendly concert series will open with a performance by the ten-piece Afro-Cubano and Latin and jazz group De La Buena, art activities for the whole family, and a variety of local food vendors.

The tenth season of the Skyline Music Series is going to be the best yet.” says Joe Trevino, COA’s Associate Executive Director. He added “We’ve got an amazing, diverse lineup, some of Milwaukee’s premier bands – and it’s all free. I’m looking forward to seeing folks from all over the City dancing together in the park all summer long.

Please join us for free weekly Skyline Music concerts to be held Tuesdays at 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. through August 23rd. Milwaukee-favorite musical acts include Extra Crispy Brass Band (7/19), Urban Empress and the Urbanites (7/26), 5 Card Studs (8/2), Paul Cebar (8/9), King Solomon (8/16), and Ahvant Soul (8/23). Trevino explains how acts were selected. “The eclectic lineup reflects our Milwaukee community. This is for Riverwest, but also for the south side, the north side – everybody.” Inclusive family-friendly activities include a jewelry making/metal crafting workshop, arts and crafting fun for the little ones, special intermission performances and diverse food trucks at every concert.
