The issues facing urban communities have tested each new generation. With each added strain to the social safety net, for 105 years. COA has evolved to meet the changing needs of our community. COA has never wavered in supporting healthy and sustained bonds between parent and child as a guiding principle of all of COA’s family support services.
- Family Resource Center offers a place for families to find support, fun, and unity. Parents learn tools to make their homes a place of learning and trust, while their newborns through six-year-old children find stimulating and creative activities that inspire their imaginations.
- HIPPY, (Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters), our acclaimed home-based school readiness program, continues to forge strong bonds between parent and child. The evidence is clear that HIPPY gives 3, 4 and 5-year-olds a proven academic advantage as they approach elementary school.
- HIP, (Having Involved Parents), which continues the HIPPY model into grades 1 to 4, improves parental engagement and learning proficiency.
