Project Description

COA is excited to announce that we have introduced brand new after-school programming at two exciting sites: Keefe Avenue School and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. School!  COA has partnered with these schools to open Safe Places that provide after-school programming for children and preteens. Programs at both Safe Places will include academic tutoring, visual and performing arts, STEM programming, and sports.

COA’s new Safe Places serve diverse youth with engaging after-school enrichment activities at the following times/locations:

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Safe Place

3275 N. 3rd Street
Grade levels: Head Start to 5th grade
Monday – Thursday: 2:30pm – 5:30pm

Keefe Avenue Safe Place

1618 W. Keefe Ave
Grade Levels: K4 to 8th grade
Monday – Thursday: 2:30pm-5:30pm

Daily programming at Keefe Avenue School and MLK School is in addition to COA’s continuing after-school programming at COA’s Goldin and Riverwest Centers, as well as at O.W. Holmes School, Auer Avenue School, Hopkins-Lloyd Community School, Westside Academy, Doerfler Elementary School, and Lincoln Middle School. Of course, the youth and families at all schools will also be encouraged to participate in COA’s camp programs, as well as our early child education and family programs.
